Adam and Jane

Regarding this advert, i emailed Bon:

Do the BT couple get back together do you know?

He had it covered:

I don’t know ‘cos Adam has been repeatedly ringing Jane lately to try to talk to her but she is so busy looking after the kids and doing housework and taking the kids to school and doing the shopping that she keeps missing his calls and obviously its not a good idea to answer the phone when you’re driving either so she has like 8 missed calls on her phone and doesn’t want to ring him back cos he only has a mobile and she is worried about the high call charges when ringing him from a land line but luckily BT have just lowered their call charges to mobiles so i think she rang him or he rang her again I’m not sure which and anyway they finally managed to speak to each other on the phone but then that was the end of the advert and it left the viewer in quite a bit of suspense especially as we know their relationship is beginning to look just a little rocky now and I’m not sure how their conversation went and after watching the ad on more than one occasion during some Saturday night telly last weekend me and Ed were discussing this and to be honest we were a bit worried about their relationship ‘cos Jane’s facial expression when she finally spoke to Adam on the phone was quite hard to read but we decided that either she didn’t look that comfortable speaking to him or she was worried about what might happen between them when they did finally speak again on the phone after such a long time of little to no communication between the couple with the last of these times being an instant messenger conversation over a dodgy wireless tube connection from Cornwall or Spain or somewhere which to be honest is not really the best of situations when you’re trying to maintain a good loving relationship when lots of factors such as the aforementioned high telephone call costs and unreliable tube connections are fighting against you but if you ask me i think Adam needs to start making a bit more of an effort to rebuild his bridges with Jane because she is fit and if he isn’t careful she is gonna meet some other bloke who is rich and isn’t so bothered about high call costs when ringing a mobile from a land line or even better he may actually own a telecommunications company and therefore get either a sizable staff discount or maybe even not have to pay any call costs at all which is probably one of the perks of being a CEO of a major national or international telecommunications company along with getting a free phone every 3 months and maybe even free broadband too which is obviously quite an attractive prospect to Jane especially during these turbulent financial times and the credit crunch when she is probably looking for a bit of financial security either from Adam or from another man although of course we all know that in her heart she loves Adam and if only the circumstances would conspire that would bring them back together then they could all be a happy family again complete with Adam and Jane and her kids and their BT Home Hub with integrated digital answering machine and wireless broadband router so i hope they do get together but in answer to your question no i don’t know if they do get back together again or not.

Supremely excellent.

Capability not Popularity

Jon Hicks on the UK government’s Browser Standards Draft:

Bruce Lawson recently brought to our attention the UK government’s Browser Standards Draft 0.13. Basically, the draft recommends using browser popularity (2% or more usage), rather than capability, as the criteria for choosing which one to support. I really hope they rethink this for future drafts. As a user of ‘minority’ browsers (definitely plural) I hate being dictated to about what I should use – if my browser is capable, that should be enough.

Out of It

Brad Sucks releases his new album, Out of It.

Brad Sucks is the original open source artist who chose to give away his music on the internet years before all the cool kids started doing it.

A lot’s changed since I started putting music on the Internet way back in 2001. Artist-endorsed free downloads were shocking. Flexible pricing was still an untested novelty. It was rare to find source files from artists and sharing music wasn’t encouraged by new artists.

The only reason I, a dude who made an album by himself in a country basement, has had any sort of success is because people took it upon themselves to share my music with their friends. They remixed it, they used it in their videos, they played it on their podcasts, they included it in software and games and it took on a life of its own.

Brad Sucks should be celebrated for putting a lot of time and effort into recording music and then having the balls to give it away for free. If you like his music, consider supporting him by spreading the word or, ultimately, by sending him a few dollars.
